Important Information for our Parents


What is your health and safety policy?

We follow all local guidelines, including our 24-hour sickness policy (your child must be clear of the following symptoms for 24 hours before returning to school: fever, vomiting, and/or diarrhea).


Do I have to buy school supplies or pay for field trips?

No. Your supplies are included with the cost of registration. All events and field trips are free for your entire family!


Can I take a tour first?

Yes! We would love to give you a tour of our school. During the tour, we'll tell you all about us. At the end, we'll ask: "Would you like your child to come to our school?" If so, that's when we'll have you fill out the application form and we'll collect the appropriate fees if there are any. Please call us to schedule a tour.


When does preschool start? Can I enroll mid-year?

Our school year runs Aug.-May (10 months). If we have spots available, you can enroll mid-year. Please call us to see if we have any spots available.

Our 2022-2023 school year begins on August 24, 2022-May 24, 2023


Why do I have to apply for my child to go to school at Kansas Learning Academy?

We know that our program is not a good fit for every child and family. By having an application process it allows us to hopefully screen children and families who aren't a good fit. Although we offer a free trial day and a 2 week probationary period we would rather direct you to another school that may be a better fit if it isn't a good fit with us. We want your child to have the best education and educational experience possible regardless of where it is at.


What is my enrollment fee cover?

We try very hard to not tack on additional fees to our families. Our enrollment fee is paid 1 time a year or you can pay every 6 months. This fee covers your child's school supplies, backpack, field trips for the whole family, and costs associated with your child's books. This fee is only refundable if your child is not accepted.


What is the administrative fee for?

We have a lot of paperwork that we must do to stay in compliance with KDHE regulations. The administrative fee is for processing the enrollment of your child. This fee is nonrefundable.


What if this isn't the right program or I have to terminate for some reason?

Kansas Learning Academy has a policy that each child has a 14 day probationary period. During this time the school administrator or the parent can terminate enrollment without notice. If you are outside of the probationary period a two week notice is required.


How do I pay?

Kansas Learning Academy uses Stripe to process some payments. Otherwise we can also use Brightwheel. Parents can pay by cash, check, barter (IMS or Tradebank), Brightwheel, Striped, or DCF. Parents can pay for the whole month on the 1st or you can pay weekly. Payments are due on Monday by 6pm for that week. There are late fees assessed at $20.00 per day until it is paid. Tuition is considered late if you pay after the 1st (monthly tuition payments) or after Monday at 6:01pm.

Arriving at School

Kansas Learning Academy does not transport children to and from school. To help families navigate work/school/family life we offer before and after school options. Our normal school day is 9am-3pm so if you are in need before or after these hours please let us know we can make sure to reserve you a spot.

Uniforms

At this time Kansas Learning Academy does not require a uniform. Each child will be given a school approved t-shirts that they must wear on fieldtrips. If it becomes necessary in the future to require uniforms we will advise you of it. The cost of the uniforms would be an expense the family would have to cover.

Holidays, Closures, and Abscences

From time to time our calendar changes. We try and follow USD 266 closures, however we know our families have to work so we do try to accommodate. Please keep in mind we have to take continuing education every year so we may have to take a Professional Development Day.

Meals and Menus

At our Longbranch location we are on the food program. They have certain requirements we must meet to be in compliance. The menu will be at all locations.
